Post Marathon

A week ago today, Rob and I completed another marathon.  It was so exciting, the sites were awesome once again on our trip to NOLA.  We ate, drank, and were very merry on our trip.  Leading up to this trip, we were so anxious to get back to New Orleans.  We absolutely love this city!  We love the food and the history....we just obviously LOVE IT!

We have so many friends that come from different parts of our life and we've put them ALL off to prepare for our trip to NOLA for this race.  We trained (ok, me not so much), we TRIED eating healthy and Rob was more strict with his alcohol intake (sigh-ok so i wasn't).  It has been so awesome to eat what ever the heck we want for the week.....but this must also come to an end or else I will have grease seeping out of my veins.  It's so nice to come home and have a beer with my hubby again.  I remember our fridge in the garage was filled with over 8 kinds of beer at one point....that was nice...to have a variety at hand.  One thing you didn't find in there was a stinkin Bud Light.

A week before our trip to NOLA, we both came to the conclusion that we were done!  We were done with all this running and questioning our decision as to why were were doing this.  Running had become a chore, it wasn't fun anymore and we had no motiviation.  After we ran and we layed on the grass along with the rest of the 22,000 runners and we decided...we are most definitely done with this running business.  EFF THIS is actually what came out of Rob's mouth.  While on our drive back and much thinking, we decided to continue to eat healthy, and continue running.  We may not do as many 1/2 marathons, but we will look into 10 milers and 10K's.  My personal problem with all of these are the cost...it adds up and I'm seriously not enjoying that aspect of running.  My husband is all for whatever race captures his eye.....but we have decided to add a little change like weights, and other ways to help us stay healthy and active.  It makes me even more happy that my husband and I think alike.  We have a lot of running friends who have been our friends before the running and now we understand why a lot of them didn't sign up for some of the runs we did...it's just so darn expensive.    I've decided i'm just not going to throw all this money into running when that money could go towards our house, towards our kids, towards a family vacation....
Cheers!
